- Dermatology has been among the first in generating evidence and a robust evidence base for Telehealth to:
- develop technology and innovation
- increase access and appropriateness
- to measure outcomes.
- However, there remains a research gap when it comes to:
- expenditure
- studies on utilization.
- The knowledge of these above 2 shortfalls helps shape the policy agenda, to increase the use of Telehealth (and Teledermatology) by specifically addressing disparities in terms of:
- access
- cost
- reimbursement
- fraud and abuse.
- The addressed above policy agenda points help shape how telehealth will be implemented in a sustainable way after the COVID-19 pandemic.
- This discussion also applies to AI which also need to go beyond the development of a technology.
